Ripple (XRP) is a digital asset designed for fast, low-cost cross-border payments. Developed by Ripple Labs, XRP operates on the XRP Ledger, a decentralized blockchain that enables near-instant transactions with minimal fees. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlike Bitcoin, XRP doesn\u2019t rely on mining; instead, all 100 billion tokens were pre-mined, with a significant portion held by Ripple Labs. XRP is widely used by financial institutions for liquidity and settlement solutions, making it a key player in the remittance and banking sectors. Its primary value lies in facilitating efficient global money transfers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ripple\u2019s (XRP) Development<\/span> Overview<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As Ripple is fighting to break the $0,70 price barrier, there are several developments that could either push it toward new highs or cause sell pressure. These are mainly played out on the sentiment of (new) buyers, as many rush to benefit from the rumors.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Flare Network, a Ripple-backed startup, will distribute (airdrop) Spark tokens to all XRP holders on a ratio of 1:1. The distribution will occur on the 12th of December and Coinbase will not support the airdrop. <\/span>Read more.<\/span><\/i><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • XRP has (temporarily) stopped offloading tokens each quarter, a practice<\/span> that previously created strong price opposition.   • The SEC\u2019s lack of regulatory clarity surrounding XRP\u2019s legal status has caused several issues.     From all the developments listed above, the main reason behind the rapid surge of XRP prices is the upcoming airdrop that is set to occur in just a few days (at the time of this writing). While there is no information regarding the value of Spark tokens, it is well known that such large-scale airdrops can cause a massive increase in the native cryptocurrency.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Knowing this, it might be interesting to try and estimate where Ripple\u2019s price will be headed in the next year(s) and how investors can benefit from this.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    SEC’s Impact on XRP Price<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Late last year, the Securities and Exchange Commission sued<\/a> Ripple for trading XRP, as they concluded its nature to be that of a security instead of a cryptocurrency. Naturally, this caused a massive drop in XRPs price. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    At the time, XRP lost more than 60% of its value before attempting to recover back to its prior levels. Amid these events, several exchanges started delisting XRP, including Coinbase, Binance.us, and OKCoin. Despite this unfortunate setback, Brad Gerlinghouse mentioned that Ripple is still strong and continues hiring new team members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
