We did the research and found the "1% fee" trap other exchanges hide. Get 50% off fees on every transaction with code TRUECOST50.
The "1% fee" that costs more than 2%.
Here's a finding from our Fee Transparency Report that sounds like a mistake. In our data, a platform advertising a 1% fee delivered less crypto than one charging 2%.
The numbers are simple. Two platforms, the same $1,000, the same asset, the same moment.
- Platform A (2% fee): Delivered 0.01150 BTC
- Platform B ("1% fee"): Delivered 0.01080 BTC
The buyer chasing the cheaper percentage walked away with roughly 6.5% less crypto.
The explanation is the spread. It's the difference between an asset's real market price and the price the platform charges you, and it works exactly like a fee, except it never appears as one. It hides inside the exchange rate, which means a platform can advertise almost any percentage and make the money back where you can't see it.
In our audit of 22 platforms, only one showed the full cost before checkout. Sixteen revealed it once your card details were in, and five don't publish their fees at all.
So the advertised fee is close to meaningless, and comparing platforms by percentage is comparing labels rather than prices. The number that can't hide anything is net received, the crypto that actually lands in your wallet after the fee, the spread, and the network cost. That's the number we measured across 21 competitors, and it's the number Paybis prints at the quote stage, before you commit, with every component listed separately.
