Stripe paid $1.1B to get into stablecoins. Yours costs 40% less until Wednesday. Code REALWORLD40.
Stablecoins just quietly overtook a 50-year-old payment network.
Somewhere in the last year, without much fanfare, stablecoins crossed a threshold that used to belong only to traditional finance. Every month, more money now moves through stablecoins than through ACH, the network that has carried American paychecks and bills for decades.
That's not a crypto statistic. It's a payments statistic, and it says something about where money is actually moving, not just where it's being traded.
- Global stablecoin volume: $390 billion this year, more than double 2024 levels
- Business share of that volume: over 60%
Companies, not individual traders, are the ones driving the growth.
The clearest signal came from who's buying in. Stripe paid $1.1 billion to acquire Bridge, a stablecoin infrastructure company. Mastercard made its own acquisition in the same space. These aren't crypto-native companies chasing a trend. They're two of the largest names in global payments, and they're paying billions to own the infrastructure.
Paybis has watched the shift happen from the inside. In July 2023, stablecoins made up 12% of the crypto our users traded. Today, that figure is 86%. The asset class that used to be a side note is now most of what moves through the platform.
None of this tells you what to do with your own crypto, and we're not going to pretend it does. What it does say is that the asset in question has moved well past its early, speculative phase, and the biggest names in finance are treating it accordingly.
