What is changing with USDT on Paybis?
From 15 November 2026, USDT is winding down on Paybis for customers in the EEA. Buying USDT ends, swaps and sales close, and the USDT deposit address is removed from your wallet.
Until then, USDT works as it does today. Any USDT left in your wallet after 15 November can be withdrawn to an external wallet.
Here are the dates to know:
- 8 October 2026: The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) published an Opinion expecting these changes within three months.
- 15 November 2026: Buying USDT ends. Swaps and sales close. The USDT deposit address is removed.
- 8 January 2027: The three months in the ESMA Opinion end. Withdrawals of USDT to an external wallet stay available.
Why is this happening?
Under the EU’s crypto rules, stablecoins offered in the EEA must come from an issuer authorised in the EU. USDC’s issuer is authorised. USDT’s issuer is not authorised under these rules.
The rules are called the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA). On 8 October 2026, ESMA published an Opinion expecting these changes within three months.
Paybis holds a MiCA crypto-asset service provider (CASP) authorisation from the Bank of Latvia. We apply the change across the EEA.
What can you do with your USDT before 15 November?
Until 15 November 2026, you have three options for your USDT. You can swap it to USDC or another coin. You can also sell it or withdraw it.
- Swap your USDT to USDC or any other coin we list.
- Sell your USDT.
- Withdraw your USDT to an external wallet.
If you want to keep holding a stablecoin, choose USDC. USDC is a US dollar stablecoin. Its issuer is authorised under MiCA, and USDC is available on Paybis in the EEA. You can use it as you do today.
If you prefer another coin, you can swap to any coin we list. If you want to move USDT out, read our guide on how to send crypto from Paybis to a wallet.
