Eleven years ago, on July 30, 2015, Ethereum's genesis block was mined and the network went live at a price under a dollar. It launched as an experiment: a blockchain that could run code, not just move coins between accounts.
The clearest legacy is one most people never think about. Ethereum introduced ERC-20, a token standard that let anyone create a digital asset that behaves predictably on-chain. It's the technical foundation most stablecoins still use today, whether they run natively on Ethereum or moved elsewhere afterward.
That's not a small footnote. The numbers back up how central Ethereum's role still is, more than a decade in.

None of that shows up in ETH's price on any given day, and eleven years in, the network's usefulness and its market value have never moved in perfect step. What the data does show is that an idea launched at under a dollar became the ledger underneath most of the stablecoin activity in crypto today.
